A Crescent Moon and the Evening Star

The weather cooperated enough to watch the sunset last night. It wasn’t the most spectacular sunset I’ve shot, but every sunset delivers at least a few beautiful shots 😁

Taken along the Eureka Waterfront at the Hikshari Trailhead parking lot, Humboldt County, CA on July 20th, 2023. This parking lot is on the Elk River, which is separated from the ocean by the thin strip of land on the horizon.

We arrived in time to watch the sun dip below the horizon, creating a stunning golden glow 🀩

Here’s a panoramic of the scene:

After the sun set, the colors continued to darken and enrich

The waxing crescent moon became visible as the light faded, and Venus, the Evening Star, emerged as well. Mars and Mercury were also low in the sky at this time, but it wasn’t dark enough to see them…

That sliver of moon over the deep, rich colors makes for a stunning shot 😍

That’s all for this shoot, I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know if you think any of these should be added to my website for sale 😁 www.guidedbylightphotography.com
