Sunset at Clam Beach Vista Point 6-17-23

Clam Beach Vista Point, Humboldt County, California, June 17th, 2023.

It’s been 6 months since circumstances have lined up for me to capture a sunset, and last night did not disappoint ๐Ÿ˜

It was a last minute decision, and when we arrived, the sun had already dropped below a think band of fog on the horizon.

If you look closely, you can see harbor seals bedding down for the night on the tip of this peninsula, which forms the mouth of the Mad River pouring into the ocean.

A couple more perspectives, I love the wildflowers in the image to the left below.

At this point, the color of the sky to the south started to give a hint of the magical show to come…

And then the show began ๐Ÿคฉ

A few different angles and zooms:

This might be one of my favorites from this session, an iconic shot, highlighting the river and the Trinidad Head, jutting out to sea on the right.

A panoramic version:

Close up shots, again, note the harbor seals on the point in the righthand photo ๐Ÿ˜

Left: Close up of Trinidad Head to the north, more pretty clouds to the south.

And then the show starting winding down, coming to an end, as all things do.

One final panoramic:
