Karl Knapp to West Ridge Trail 6-17-23

I returned to one of my favorite trails in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park – a loop comprising the Karl Knapp and West Ridge Trails. Particularly in the busy summer months, this part of the park is farthest away from the visitor center and has the smallest crowds.

Plus, there’s a steep, half-mile climb up to the ridge, that tends to keep the crowds along the West Ridge trail very sparse, I rarely see another human on that trail, even on busy summer holiday weekends 😁

A few gorgeous pics of redwoods along Prairie Creek. As often as I visit this park, I still wind up take hundreds of pictures of these beautiful scenes.

A new wave of flowers were blooming along the trail, these little white flowers 😊

The fading glory of the irises… quite a change from two weeks ago: Iris Superbloom

A few more beautiful redwoods

Came across this striking scene – the illuminated forest canopy reflected in the creek 🤩

And then this curious raven back at the parking area wants to be famous 😂
